RAG Chairman: Jakarta must Be More Optimistic in Supporting Indonesia as Developed Country

According to him, the President's state speech, Joko "Jokowi" Widodo motivated to all components of the nation that Indonesia as a developed country could be realized by optimizing its human and natural resources.

"After leaving the status of the Capital City, Jakarta must prepare to become a global city, business and economic center," he expressed, in his written statement, Friday (8/18).

Jakarta PMI's Resource Development Sector explained that Jakarta is an important part of Indonesia's economic growth.

"Jakarta will be an important factor in welcoming the demographic bonus towards Golden Indonesia 2045," he explained.

Jakarta also continues to prove itself as a big city in Indonesia that is friendly to investors. It can be demonstrated by the continued increase in the value of investment in Jakarta.

Based on data from the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Jakarta's investment realization in the January-March (quarter I) 2023 period exceeded Rp 36.5 trillion consisting of Foreign Investment (PMA) of USD 1.2 billion or the equivalent Rp 17.5 trillion, and Domestic Investment (PMDN) by Rp 19.0 trillion.

"Investment realization in Jakarta in the first quarter of 2023 contributes 11 percent to the achievement of national investment realization," he explained.

Then Jakarta's economic growth in the second quarter of 2023 grew higher to 5.13 percent from the previous quarter's 4.95 percent.

Jakarta's increased economic growth was also accompanied by a relatively controlled inflation rate. In July 2023, Jakarta's inflation decreased from 3.20 to 2.81 percent.

"Jakarta is still an important pivot, despite it no longer holds the status of an IKN. This city must be optimistic about supporting Indonesia as a Developed Country," he asserted.

Jakarta would also be an important part in the success of Indonesia's chairmanship in ASEAN.

"As we know, the ASEAN Secretariat is located in Jakarta. The ASEAN Summit will be held this year in Jakarta. Jakarta's positive image is a good image of Indonesia in the eyes of the international community," he closed.
